We hold a collection of documents, pictures and artefacts donated to us over the years. They range from the 19th Century to today. It currently contains over 1500 records and over 2000 images.
They mainly concern the Howe of Cromar which broadly is the sweep of land between the Dee valley to the south (which includes Aboyne and Ballatar), and the Don valley to the north (which includes Strathdon) to the mountain Morven, to the west. Our eastern boundary is the range of hills between Coull (included) and Lumphanan (not).
The main communities are Tarland, Logie Coldstone, Coull, Ordie, Migvie. We do not hold the archives for communities on Deeside or the Don valley.
You are welcome to search our database for information on your ancestors or details of documents, artefacts, photographs, and any other material which we have.
You are welcome to download photographs of the items we hold, provided that there are no restrictions placed upon them, for example maps are copyright.
Please note, that we are updating our archive constantly, and the scanning occurs after we create a record so you will find some records which have not yet got a picture attached.
